About Us
Public Schools Preceptory No. 209 was consecrated by the Most Eminent and Supreme Pro Grand Master Richard Loveland Loveland KC, GCC at 10 Duke Street, St James's, London SW1 on Wednesday, 10th December 1919. The consecration started at 1800 and afterwards the members dined at Café Monico, Piccadilly Circus.
Our first Preceptor was the Very Illustrious and Eminent Knight Colonel Charles Warren Napier-Clavering GCT, Great Seneschal, who had been educated at Repton School.
The venture was a truly united effort of schools, with the 67 founders coming from Charterhouse, Marlborough, Rossall, Uppingham, Bradfield, St Paul's, Westminster, Harrow, Haileybury, Eton, Repton, Sherborne, Rugby, Clifton, Cheltenham and Winchester.
Membership
Membership of the Order of the Temple is open to all Royal Arch Masons who profess the Trinitarian Christian Faith.
In order to qualify for membership of the Public Schools Preceptory, prospective members must also be eligible for membership of a Public Schools lodge.
The Order
The Masonic Order of Knights Templar and Malta is based on the customs of the medieval predecessors. However, there is no direct link with that Order.
